It works fine. However, it shows 49 ports down.
[netdisco@netdisco ~]$ snmpstatus -v 2c -c ********* *.*.*.*
[UDP: [10.15.1.16]:161->[0.0.0.0]]=>[Dell 48 Port Gigabit Ethernet, 2.0.0.12,
VxWorks5.5.1] Up: 314 days, 15:01:26.16
Interfaces: 71, Recv/Trans packets: -256156363/1827267259 | IP:
70362381/69435336
49 interfaces are down!

Can you confirm the Dell has SNMP switched on?
From the Netdisco machine, try a
snmpstatus -v 2c -c <community> <DellSwitchIP>
If this does not work, check the Dell. If it does, issue more likely on
Netdisco side.

Excellent. So that means that SNMP is configured correctly. (the 49
interfaces can be ignored for now, most are likely to be virtual)
Is LLDP turned on on the Dell?
Try the following, logged in as your netdisco user.
$ bin/netdisco-do discover -DISQ -d <IP_address_of_Dell>
You will get lots of output, you are looking for a line of the form:
try_connect with ver: 2, class: SNMP::Info::Layer2::HP, comm: <hidden>
(the SNMP::Info class will be different). What is it being detected as?

I will get that done. Thank you very much for your help… Will confirm if it
works.
Thanks again,
Keith

Keith, the output seems OK. SNMP is working, and the correct class (Dell,
Layer 3) is being detected.

This, plus the lines at the bottom of your output, show that Netdisco thinks
the Dell does not have LLDP or CDP. The most likely reason is that neither is
turned on.
I assume you have a 6224 or similar. The config guide is at:
ftp://ftp.dell.com/Manuals/Common/powerconnect-6224_Reference%20Guide_en-us.pdf
Pages 411 ff cover LLDP, and if I read them rightly, LLDP is turned off by
default. This means that although Netdisco knows a lot about your Dell switch,
it has no idea who its neighbours are.
You (or netops, etc) need to turn on LLDP. Magic will start to happen :-)
