Hi Oliver,
Perfect! It works when we use the correct syntax -- 00:23:ae* -- and the Node
Vendor Inventory also works. (We're still learning the new UI.)
We did, however, encounter one issue. When viewing the Node Vendor Inventory
report and changing "Show 50 records" to "Show All records" we receive the
following error:
DataTables warning: table id=data-table - Ajax error. For more information
about this error, please see http://datatables.net/tn/7
Any ideas?
Also, on an unrelated note, are there instructions anywhere on the best way to
migrate our DB on ND1 to ND2 (or merge the two)? It'd be nice not to have to
recreate all of the user accounts and to also hold onto the historical data.
Thanks all you do.
Regards,
~Gary

Subject: Re: [Netdisco] Find nodes by vendor (using MAC address OUI)?
Hi Gary,
First of all, thanks for upgrading! It's rare that a Netdisco 1 feature doesn't
exist in Netdisco 2. (The main reason would be that the feature was already
broken or misguided in some way.)

This should work fine but you'll need to give a little hint by specifying as a
wildcard search and with colons:
00:23:ae*
Alternatively if you already know the vendor name, use the built-in Node Vendor
Inventory report which is under the Reports -> Node menu.
I hope this helps, and do ask if you can't find anything else,
regards,
oliver.

Oops, bug, I'll squash it in the next release. Thanks for reporting.

Rather than initialise a new database you can configure Netdisco 2 to
use your ND1 database (deployment.yml), then run the "netdisco-deploy"
step from the installation. This will upgrade the database to ND2.
Restart the daemons afterwards.
I recommend you do this on a copy of the database if you can, just in
case you still want to use the ND1 web interface. If you can't run a
copy, at least make sure you have a backup.

oliver.

I'm not sure what you mean by this ... are you saying after a "clean
install" then all the switches are shown, but some time later they are
not?
None of the models shows switch names of any kind.
I'm also not sure what you mean by this. Are you able to provide some
screenshots?
regards,
oliver.
if i click on
"vendor" also no details. just an empty page with the normal page
colums. When i enter a switch name in the search bar on the top of
the
page it dow shows the switch name and details if i dubble enter it.
The search bar works fine. Does any one has encounter the same
problems?
I hope some one recognise this?
Thanks in advanced

Hi Oliver,
In the beginning when the installation was done, i started to add devices. That
all went well. All the pages worked well. A few days later i needed to restart
the server due to OS updates. After the reload i started the postgresql deamon
with the frond-end and back-end demons of Netdisco. I noticed that after
logging-in that 2 things did not work properly. (Screenshots links provided via
Dropbox below the mail).
1) The welcome search-bar result ended up in a error page (Screenshots
Netdisco2.0 Shot 3 and Netdisco2.0 Shot 4)
The top search-bar right of the "Admin" dropdown works fine (great actually
:-).
2) When i click in the "Inventory" button it show me a page with all the types
of Cisco device it has discoverd. (Screenshot Netdisco2.0 Shot 1)
When i click on the device on top of the list "296024TT" it shows me the
following page (screenshot Netdisco2.0 Shot 2). That also happens
on all the items on the "Inventory" page. I also noticed that none of the
"Reports" functions works as well
(I`m not using the Report function that much).
The top search bar (as i already mention) works relay fine. I can put mac
addresses of all kind of formats, PC numers, you name it. ITs great :-)
If you need more information please let me know.
Thanks in advanced.
Greetings Palermo

Ah, a misunderstanding here - the "welcome search-bar" is not a
search-bar. It's a form for discovering new devices (you enter the IP or
name of the device and a job is queued). However it shouldn't return an
error! This is a bug which I can reproduce so will be fixed in the next
release.

It seems there might be a problem with the Javascript libraries running
in your browser. It's tricky for me to debug this one. If you feel
confident, you could open the "Javascript Console" or web developer
toolbar in your browser and see if there's an error message. I assume
you're using the latest version of a modern browser?
regards,
oliver.
