So it turns out that I didn't have too many devices for netdisco to handle,
I just have a number of devices that get stuck in a loop when doing
bulkwalk apparently. As I identify them and use the directive from above,
I'm finding out that macsuck finishes in a reasonable amount of time.

I'm back to doing macsuck and arpnip once an hour now, no problems.

Thanks Oliver.

Hello all,

I´ve recognized, that my problem is not related to the startup script. It also
happens, when I start netdisco manually. But theres one interesting thing I
found out...

In the case I see no device at all switches, I can do the trick and search for
a mac address. Then, after I click on MAC: #MAC-Adress# (see screenshot
attached) all connected node on all devices appears back again.

Why does this sometimes happen and what is this problem related to?

A further info for you guys, As I installed the latest update 2.029014 I made a
mistake and accidentially executed a workarround for 2.029010 (~/bin/localenv
cpanm --notest --force [email protected] DBIx::[email protected]) command to overcome
incompatibility between Netdisco and one of its components as described here:
http://search.cpan.org/~oliver/App-Netdisco-2.030000/lib/App/Netdisco/Manual/ReleaseNotes.pod

Does this could make Problems in 2.029014 ?

Sebastian

Betreff: [Netdisco] Netdisco not showing connected devices when using RC script
/ Cisco ASA5585 Arpnip

Hello all,

I´m currently stuck with my netdisco v 2.029014. Earlier I already ran into
this problem, but i didn´t know, what it was caused by. This time the problem
started with creating and using startup scripts for netdisco-daemon and
netdisco-web. I copied them to /etc/init.d. The netdisco processes worked as
expected for me. But today, as I took a closer look at the devices and the
connected devices, I didn´t see any device. Now I removed the startup scripts,
started the netdisco processes with user:netdisco and I see the connected
devices again. Can somebody tell me, why this happens? Is this permission
related due to running the netdisco processes with user root? If yes, whats the
best way to change this?

Another thing is, that I want to arpnip a cisco asa 5585 firewall. Has somebody
already done this, without modyfing netdisco? I found this Article from 2010,
does it still apply? http://sourceforge.net/p/netdisco/mailman/message/26465537/

Netdisco doesn´t get any addresses out of it... And I verified, there are
entries available.

Best Regards
Sebastian
