Hi Vlad,

Okay, so arpnipping your device 10.1.10.1 shows that we find 4 subnets and 6 ARP entries (all for IPv6, no IPv6).

- Are those numbers what you'd expect?

- After you've run this arpnip, what happens when you search for these six IPs in the web interface? For example, can you find 10.1.253.11?

Regarding LLDP on Juniper: we've had a few threads about tha in the past, looks like this one had a working solution:

    Hi,

I m having an issue with discovering arp table on juniper devices.
The problem is that it looks like netdisco does discover arp table
properly when in debug mode, but doesn't populate the database.
Netdisco gui doesn't display any arp entry for most of the juniper
    devices.

It works very well for other vendors, like aruba, dell, etc.

On a side note, Netdisco doesn't autodraw network topology for
    juniper devices ( LLDP).

    P.S: I didn't upgrade postgres. Should i ?

    Any advice would be helpful.

    Thank you
    Vlad

Have you got around this issue yet?

From
https://sc1.checkpoint.com/documents/R77/CP_R77_VSX_WebAdminGuide/6318.htm:

SNMP Monitoring
For more about using SNMP, see SNMP in the R77 Gaia Administration Guide.

VSX SNMP Modes
There are two modes of SNMP monitoring that you can use with VSX:

Default mode
VS mode
VS mode lets you monitor all of the Virtual Systems in the VSX Gateway. Default mode only monitors VS0.
Note - When SNMP VS mode is enabled, traps from Virtual Systems are not supported.

Querying a VSX Gateway or VSX Cluster
When you query a VSX Gateway or VSX cluster with SNMP v2 or v3, it is necessary to send the query to the VSX Gateway (VS 0). For a VSX cluster, make sure that you use the IP address for the cluster member.

The IP address that you use for the query depends on the configuration.

For a VSX Gateway that uses a DMI configuration, send the SNMP query to the IP address of the DMI interface. For a VSX cluster that uses a DMI configuration, send the SNMP query to the IP address of the DMI interface for each cluster member. For a VSX Gateway or cluster that uses a non-DMI configuration, send the SNMP query to the IP address of the external interface on the VSX Gateway. Do not use virtual IP addresses in the query. For a Virtual Router with a VSX Gateway or cluster that uses a non-DMI configuration, send the SNMP query to the IP address of the Management interface. Do not use the IP address of the Virtual Router.
For more about querying VSX Gateways, see sk34054.

Supported SNMP Versions
The VS mode uses SNMP version 3 to query the Virtual Systems. You can run remote SNMP queries on Virtual Systems in the VSX Gateway.

For systems that only support SNMP versions 1 and 2:

You cannot run remote SNMP queries for each Virtual System. You can only run a remote SNMP query on VS0. You can use the CLI to change the Virtual System context and then run a local SNMP query on a Virtual System.
Enabling VS Mode
To enable VS mode on the VSX Gateway:
Create an SNMP v3 user.
Enable VS mode.
Start the SNMP agent.
Sample commands:

> add snmp usm user admin security-level authNoPriv auth-pass-phrase abcd1234
> set snmp mode vs
> set snmp agent on
Note - If you run SNMP in the VS mode, you must run the snmpwalk command and set the -n switch to ctxname_vsid<vsid>.

Example:

snmpwalk -n ctxname_vsid2 -v 3 -l authNoPriv -u admin -A abcd1234 192.2.2.2 ifDesc

Sample SNMP VS Mode Configuration
Sample remote query of interfaces for VS2:

> snmpwalk -n ctxname_vsid2 -v 3 -l authNoPriv -u admin -A abcd1234 <VSX_IP_Address> ifDescr
Sample local query of interfaces for VS2:

> vsenv 2
> snmpwalk -v 2c -c public localhost ifDescr

Note - You must enable VSX Resource Control Monitoring to see information about CPU usage per Virtual System.

As I understand it should be possible to get relevant arp og ip interface data with snmpv3 from each virtual system but not snmp v1 or v2. I haven't got around testing it yet but I hope this is correct

Is there any news regarding Checkpoint VSX support on arpnip?
My problem : netdisco is able to discover checkpoint vsx but it only
arpnip
the master engine not Virtual systems.
Is there any development regarding this issue?
     Thanks,
     Nuno

--- Begin Message --- Hi Gary,

The current implementation of port search/device ports consumes too much memory, causing the search to fail. Removing columns will reduce the memory that Netdisco needs. Working on a fix.

Its fixed now. Oddly unchecking a couple of the boxes on the display column made the issue go away and not come back.

Subject: [Netdisco] snmpretries setting not working?

I put the following in deployment.yml
snmpretries: 0

When I do the following, it still tries 3 times before failing:
~/bin/netdisco-do -D discover -d 10.0.0.1

Am I missing something?

Thanks,
Joseph B.
