file?

Jim has already replied with the workaround.

However I thought that we already patched this issue in commit c615ba4df2848ff4be5cdb30585fe7017f80d85d from the thread you mentioned. Netdisco should try the known community settings, then when they fail it will try all possible configurations from SNMP version 3 down to 1 (in that order). This means your new SNMPv3 configuration should be found and used. Please let me know if you think this isn't the case, as we may have a regression.

oliver.

Hi Stuart,

I was imagining that adding the following to
~/environments/deployment.yml
suggest_guest: true

would add text to the login screen, something like "Guest access is
available by entering username 'guest' and password 'guest'"

Is there another step I would take to add suggestive text to the login
screen?

Please make sure you are logged out, and also that you have not enabled the no_auth feature.

Also you will need to restart your netdisco web daemon to pick up the configuration change:

~netdisco/bin/netdisco-web restart

oliver.

Oh, and restart the poller daemon, I forgot to mention that:

~netdisco/bin/netdisco-daemon restart

Thanks for letting us know, Max. If you think there is a safe patch to apply that would cope with this bug whilst not breaking backwards or forwards compatibility, please submit it and I will apply.

oliver.

Hi

I have now had it confirmed that there is a bug in a the Nexus 9000
series software that causes the entPhysicalContainedIn
(.1.3.6.1.2.1.47.1.1.1.1.4) table to contain 1 in the row that refers
to the root fabric rather than 0. This causes Netdisco to fail to find
the serial number for the switch. The Cisco bug is CSCuy20251, and
it's fixed in 7.0(3)I2(3)

Max

Does Netdisco support a way to send to syslog, rather than to
~/logs/netdisco-daemon.log and netdisco-web.log ?

Hi Oliver

I think it's unlikely that a patch would be safe, as any non-zero parent value
should mean this is not a root module. Cisco have a fix which I shall try as
soon as I can schedule it - it's more that anyone with this type of switch
needs to know about the bug and its effect on Netdisco.

The issue with the 4500X is different. I can supply a patch for that which
should be completely safe, and I'll do that

Regards

Max
