The problem started after upgrading from version 2.39.17 to 2.39.19
and effects all non local user accounts.
The following error message appears on the Web UI: "Incorrect username
or password, please try again."
I changed the syntax of the LDAP config for test reason to
ldap:
servers: [ldap.emea.corp.domain]
user_string: '%USER%'
but that doesn't make any difference.
Any ideas how to proceed with troubleshooting?

Sorry about that regression. It looks to be related to the change:
commit ea9ac1c1a191144160f4d307776e38244729d9d7
#371 usernames are case insensitive but case preserving
although I cannot immediately see why, and I do not have access to an
LDAP server here to check. I should be able to look into this within a
day or two.
Apologies for the inconvenience,
regards,
oliver.

Hello,
after updating to the latest ND version - I think it was from version
2.039015 - I'm facing login issues with the LDAP authentication.
Currently only local accounts are able login.
Are there any changes made in regards to LDAP within the last two or
three versions of Netdisco?
My current simple LDAP configuration looks (unchanged):
ldap:
servers:
- 'ldap.emea.corp.domain'
user_string: '%USER%'
Thanks a lot in advance.
Regards Tobias

Thanks in advance, Oliver. Please let me know if I can test something.
The users are all in lower case and as a prefix I have to use the
domain, e.g. emea\username.

Ah, try double backslash instead of single as a workaround?
I think I see the problem now!

Hi Oliver,
with a double backslash the authentication works! But that causes
other serious site effects actually, like reports cannot be opened
etc.
Can't use this as an workaround unfortunately :(
I would like to place a note at the Netdisco login page to inform the
user about the current login disturbance. How can I do that?

Fixed release 2.039020 is now on its way to CPAN. No double backslash
required.
Do let me know how you get on, in case I didn't test your situation
fully.

oliver.
