Hello,

When I installed netdisco in the lab it worked very well except for a
tendency to report the device IP as the interface to the neighbour on which
it was discovered.

On a fresh install is there a way I can discover a device, but not queue
jobs to discover it's neighbours so that I can make sure the device IP is
always the loopback / management IP?

Thanx in Advance.

Damien.

Hi Oliver

Yes, that looks like it. Thanks - I hadn’t seen that

Hi

I have an installation of Netdisco which started off as a VM appliance from
“wokka.org<https://url6.mailanyone.net/v1/?m=1gF4UZ-00027U-4E&i=57e1b682&c=HYy186LRjqbmCkRi1JJyIdZDRFASDPC4BL7y-goYUr3-NEQCyKrfNEfnc4CPP0KaCVVPf39Op-50TaH_jku1zK5oxJ8Sw1d_Adn7GjnicGmuOcs11v-9zT6Hm-qNCLUW4D47YZ6SY_WDASy0ES4z0SAdB7AnovoiV4Gzv1Xnvm2d-yf1XY8Wjr7T7oPRtPN-S2INlfzF2Jw6lwW34W7M8A>”,
but has since been updated. The VM was built using Ubuntu 14.04 LTS, so I felt
it was about time I upgraded to 16 or even 18. I backed it up first, and then
ran “do-release-upgrade” to get to 16.04 LTS. This appeared to work, but when I
started Netdisco vis the INIT script, it failed with a segmentation fault.
Unfortunately the ESX host was short of resources, so couldn’t afford to keep
it, and replaced it with the backup, but I do have the lines from “dmesg” that
record the fault. They are:

[ 7.767120] perl[663]: segfault at 5 ip 00007f598376e747 sp 00007ffd2ff613a0

Not much to go on, I know, but has anyone got this combination working, or
alternatively have any more experience of this problem?

Thanks
