heya,
i've seen this a couple of times too, even with the latest 2.39.33. while i
haven't found a root cause yet, it seems to happen after changing the
deployment.yml file. we have quite some host groups & host group display names.
it seems that whenever we add or remove a device to a group that's alrdy in use
in a map, that the map resets.
even using the save button makes no difference, it just resets.
the alternative is to export the map description via netdisco-do graph & then
make your own graphs with graphviz (or with https://gephi.org/ ). once you get
over the initial learning curve it ain't that bad, but still ain't no fun.
side note: for me it also seems firefox doesn't really want to move groups in
the netmap (shift + left mouse to select multiple devices). it selects them,
but when i try to move the selected devices only the one i'm targetting with my
mouse moves. lesser browsers like chrome & edge don't have a problem with that
:)

Am I the only one for whom this happens?
I tried rearranging again, it stuck through a few sessions then I went back in
and all the positions lost again.
Am I missing something?

Subject: Map saved positions lost
I have Netdisco running with 525 devices on 2.39.31.
I put a lot of effort into rearranging the neighbor map to make more logical
sense, carefully saving positions each time while under show-all.
I went back into it one day and all the saved positions were gone, it had
reverted to its own positions. That's a LOT of work gone.
Am I missing something about how one goes about saving positions (I simply hit
"save")?
Or conversely was there some step or process or ... something that I might have
accidently hit the cleared it?
I hesitate to reposition them again for fear of losing the positions again.
As a side comment, I wish I would save positions each time you made a change -
a couple times I double clicked on a node, which opened a new window, and
everything was lost since the prior save-positions.
While I'm whining a bit, another wish list item: Manual Topology in a different
color.
But the real question: What can cause loss of all saved positions?

dunno if this question has alrdy been answered, but we are having the same
issue with:
ciscoProducts.2057 / C881G-4G-GA-K9
opened a bug report with cisco, the answer was: "take it up with your account
manager".
i guess you can always add an entry to
netdisco-mibs/cisco/CISCO-PRODUCTS-MIB.my. i dont think there are any other
options to add custom oids (it's on my wishlist however =)

Subject: [Netdisco] Mib Support for Cisco c9300
Hi all,
I see in the Inventory for Cisco model c9300 as model Products.2494,
means the MIB was not found (Netdisco Version 2.39.11, SNMP::Info 3.61),
right ?
The Cisco C9410R is with the right label listed in the inventory.
If there an easy way to 'translate' the string until the mib contains
this c9300 cisco model.
Regards,
Oliver Buehrig

i've gotten mine working under both cygwin (with a remote postgresql) & wsl
debian, both on windows 10 1803. haven't noticed any issues with it yet but our
main netdisco installs run on native linux. i don't think i'll do a writeup on
how i got it to work since i don't want to encourage these setups.
++ for openbsd btw, such an elegant system & the best documentation you'll ever
find. been a happy user since 2.7 & shaped how i look at operating systems.

A few notes:
Beyond the "BSD" notes (really FreeBSD notes) on the main page, I found this:
Need to install curl, zstd, possibly something else (I didn't start
with a completely clean new install).
All commands are done as root unless there is an su before them.
OpenBSD wants to use postgresql 10.5, this is fine as far as I can
tell. To install the server:
pkg_add -v postgresql-server
Need to do your own initialization of the database:
su - _postgresql
initdb -D /var/postgresql/data
Then follow the OpenBSD rules about starting postgresql and getting it
to start at boot time (rcctl).
Adding a user is:
useradd -m netdisco
passwd netdisco
Seems to work but I haven't tested it thoroughly.
I'll try NetBSD at some point.
I'm considering moving from Linux to one of these BSDs at work. I've
always been a BSD guy. Much simpler.
Andy
