   1. Neighbor Maps, Persistency, Master Map (Michael Butash)
--- Begin Message ---
Hi All,

Use of the neighbor maps is a great feature I use to help others visualize
the networks and learned objects, but it's a bit frustrating to use, as my
maps tend to get lost, as well are only bound to a given neighbor, even
when they last. I've not found that saving them or any other options seem
to do so, as changes for a whole new map usually results a mess again with
hundreds/thousands to replace.

Few questions:

1) What is the best way even per neighbor to make a custom map layout (i.e.
manual drag/drop grooming of a map) stay persistent (other than historic
screenshots). None have proven successful for me really and keep losing
groomed neighbor maps.
2) Is there a way that when nodes are added/removed, to keep them from
rejumbling the entire network? (see #1)
3) Is there any concept of creating a "master network map" for the
environment out of a given view? Ideally a main menu option, like the old
ND1 map, but not neighbor specific, but still adjustable like a neighbor map

As for #3 there, tools like Netbrains do this and seem pretty successful
selling a tool that does largely what Netdisco does, only actually creating
a master network view as well that is tailored to the environment. Same as
netdisco, but doesn't clobber the map every time an update occurs. The
option to even save an existing customized neighbor map (ie. with all nodes
shown) as a "master" map globally would be ideal, so long as it doesn't
randomly change, and still allow new nodes to be added when necessary.

There isn't a lot I want for in Netdisco still after all this time, but
persistent network map capabilities in some form is a large one.
