For Meraki MX gateways, their snmp support is just absolutely crap and
gives you very little usable info via SNMP - which from what I've gathered
they hide purposefully in the linux/snmpd end. I yelled at them for 2
years for my time at a customer using them, but they refused to expose
parts of the mib tree that actually make sense for monitoring (arp,
host-resource) vs. bare minimum IF-MIB only. They'd rather parrot how
great their API is and that you should use that, until you try to use it
and find their API is as bad as their SNMP.

For Meraki MS switches, SNMP is a tad better, actually offering most L2
snmp support you could want, but not at all useful without the MX to bind
layer 3 info with it unless using L3 at the switch (which we weren't for
~1200 stores with them).

MR wireless SNMP is pretty useless too for nothing more than IF-MIB data
like the gateways.

Same customer paid the looong dollar for Netbrain (think Netdisco on
steroids and commercial support), which paid their proserv team to
implement these missing data grabs from Meraki's API, and found they
couldn't get all the data easily with API rate-limit caps for getting the
info back out, and the API was very quirky for what and how it did return
data that Netbrain cursed and spit at Meraki the entire time they cobbled
support together as good as it would get via API means, but seeing as the
API gives no performance data, it still requires that to be grabbed via
their broken SNMP implementation via IF-MIB performance counters! Most
systems, including netbrain do not handle merging API and SNMP counters
against a same node in such a way, not sure what crack Meraki software devs
were smoking when they envisioned this.

All in all, I pity the fools that buy Meraki - their monitoring
capabilities are simply terrible with a hobble SNMP implementation. I quit
that customer after telling them for 2 years to ditch them for a better
platform (after heard they are!), but please yell at your Cisco/Meraki reps
to fix this for the other poor bastards using them.

Moral of the story - friends don't let friends use Meraki if they want to
monitor them like a *real* network.

Hi Koen

I am very sorry to say this is a bug recently introduced by a change in
Netdisco. I have just released version 2.062005 with a fix which I suggest
you upgrade to.

Apologies again,

regards
Oliver.
