There existed some temporary (?) tables, like fwtable_blahblahblah (2 pieces)
and fwtableentry_blahblahblah,
there were no fwtable at all.
I have deleted fwtableentry_blahblahblah, and one of the
fwtable_blahblahblah's, the other was not possible to delete becouse of some
foreign key contraint, so I have renamed it to fwtable, and now it works.

Any idea, how to avoid situations like this?

Hi,

I have several new Brocade ICX series switches/routers and like to
monitor them with netdot.
Unfortunately the model is not detected automatically so far and I only
get something like "Foundry registration.57.1.2.1.1" in my asset field.

So my question, how do I add new models to netdot? Do I have to alter
SNMP::Info or is it just adding new mib files?

Since Brocade bought Foundry Networks I'm also curious whether it makes
sense to rename "Foundry.pm" to "Brocade.pm" within that library.

I already removed the old mibs within the foundry directory and replaced
them with a new one I got from Brocade which contains the current
devices but nothing changed at all in netdot? Is there a reason that
there are multiple files? The mib from Brocade contains all in one
single file.

Is there a way to upgrade the assets product field based on new mib
definitions?

I'm not very familiar with SNMP perl coding so I'd be glad if someone
could explain to me how this stuff works together.

Regards,
Markus

Hi Markus,

The names/description are stored in product table. If a product is not
it this table, Netdot will extract this info from MIB (using
SNMP::Info). If the MIB does not contain the correct sysObjectID, your
description will be something like "Foundry registration.57.1.2.1.1"

Then, you can change the name/description manually.

On my Netdot install, I've a custom "FOUNDRY-SN-ROOT-MIB.mib" which
contains all ICX models:
- This file was extracted from "ICX64S07400.mib". I've added minor
changes to match IMPORTS
- I do not know if I will break some agreement if I share it: I need
to be registered on Brocade Portal to download ICX64S07400.mib file.

I've chosen to name it "Foundry.pm" because historical Foundry devices
(MLX , FastIron, etc) use a complete different CLI/MIB than Brocade
product family (like VDX Switchs).

It may work, but, I will not recommend doing this. A MIB file contains
IMPORTS from other files which may broke dependencies. I have no idea
how SNMP::Info will react with conflicts.

Edit this product name on Netdot interface.

Vincent
