Hey folks of the Netdot-Mailinglist,

at first, thank you and congratulations to Carlos Vicente and all the
developers of "Netdot" - what a great IPAM-tool!

We're at the beginning with Netdot and it's handling. As read in the manual,
"Management" -> "Devices" and "Management" -> "Assets" is only for network
devices such as Routers, Switches, Servers... and *not* for clients/desktop pc.

Our self-developed (and old) IPAM implementation with Microsoft Access has the
possibility, to manage the clients/desktop pc of our university employees
(chair, administration, laboratories) and assign a room and the wall-jack
number, where the client/desktop pc is connected - in the past, these
informations were helpful for a good network-troubleshooting - beside our
client-management-software/asset-management, used by the it-support team.

In Netdot, the only section for clients/desktop pc is "Management" -> "DNS
Records"? So we can give some generally informations and DNS-specific
informations (HINFO, TXT, MX, ...) for the client. But is there a possibility,
to link these client informations to "Cable Plant" -> "Horizontal Cables", so
that we can determine, where a client/pc stands?

Or is there any other good way, to manage clients and link them with
building/room informations?

Thanks in advance for your help and informations!

Best regards from Germany,
Matthias Roeske
