can I assume you are using 5.0?

could you explain what you mean by "i put a ND data object
into the bean" - ?

1) you do a "new CSpDataObject()"
not recommended unless you are intimate with the data object,
   and I mean intimate.

2) you created a dataobject in the bean project
2.1) is it relational or does it point to a bean
2.1.1) if it points to a bean, is it the same bean
which you "put the data object in"
3) "it blows up" refers to what specific exception that you
are seeing in netdynDefaultPartition or smDefaultPartition .log

FYI there is a 5.0 forum...
