Isabel,
>>> I grabbed a field from a page put it into a session object
I got the sessionobject to populate a field ON ANOTHER PROJECT PAGE <<<
Sounds like this is all part of a single Web Event processing. I mean, part
of the things happening between submitting a page and getting the reply.
If that is the case, you don't need either. You can simply use instance
variables in the second page.
UserSessionObject will work, even though it is a waste. PageSessionObject
may not work, and is not meant for this purpose.
>>> My second question is if I need to grab a session object on the
same page,
what type of session object should I be using?? Page or User <<<
The answer is the same as the first.
Regarding the usage of UserSessionObject v.s. PageSessionObject:
If you say putPageSessionObject() inside some event of a Page, the
value gets attached to the SPIDERSESSION tag, the long one, that goes
alongwith the page and comes back to the server when the page gets
submitted. Its life is very limited. UserSessionObject is stored in a
hashtable in the server. It stays in the server until you do remove it or
overwrite it or the session expires.
