You ought to look at ND5, which was designed to be able to do what you want.
As of ND4, you could create a page with no visual components. You could do
whatever in 'onBeforeLoad', including executing the DO and printing out
results to system.out or some other output stream, and then suppress any
display processing by returning STOP in the page-level onBeforeDisplay event.
