I have experienced the same problem. After a lot of frustration, a reboot or two, and even a reinstall, this is what I discovered. NetDynamics doesn't actually crash. Instead, the dialog box does not display itself in a visible area(i.e. it's floating somewhere in happy, nowhere land). NetDynamics is waiting for a response from that box, and therefore, the whole system appears as though it has shut down. The work around is to hit a series of key strokes so that the Clear Cache box gets input. Tab, Tab, Space will select the Ok button in the box.
