I have experienced the same problem.  After a lot of frustration, a reboot or two, and
even a reinstall, this is what I discovered.  NetDynamics doesn't actually crash.  
Instead, the dialog box does not display itself in a visible area(i.e. it's floating 
somewhere
in happy, nowhere land).  NetDynamics is waiting for a response from that box, and 
therefore, the whole 
system appears as though it has shut down.  The work around is to hit a series of key
strokes so that the Clear Cache box gets input.  Tab, Tab, Space will select the Ok 
button
in the box.
