I submitted this answer for a tech note ages ago, but I don't think it ever
got added to the ND site.
Hope it helps:
Tech Note submission:
Your Name: Grace Frederick
Your Email: [EMAIL PROTECTED]
Topic: Installation
Applicable product: NetDynamics Studio
Applicable Platform: Windows NT
Applicable Version: 4.1
Short Description:
Studio does not see that Microsoft Visual SourceSafe is installed.
Long Description:
After installing Visual SourceSafe, when attempting to enable Source Code
control from the Studio, the user may receive an error that no source
control packages are installed on the system. The reason for this, as
indicated in the ND 4.1 release notes, is that there is no registry entry
for the Source Code Control Provider. This sometimes happens because the
Source Control System is installed on a network drive, or because the
registry entries are sometimes set improperly during the Visual SourceSafe
server installation.
Registering a provider who provides the Common Source Code Control interface
in the Registry requires two entries under the HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/SOFTWARE
hive: one under SourceCodeControlProvider and two under the
Microsoft/SourceSafe. The first entry specifies the registry path to the
second entry.
Before making any entries to the Registry, make sure that you export the
registry so that you can recover if you must!
The entries should appear as follows:
KEY: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE
KEY: SOFTWARE
KEY: SoftwareCodeControlProvider
KEY: InstalledSCCProviders
StringValue: Name=Microsoft Visual SourceSafe
Value="Software\Microsoft\SourceSafe"
KEY: Microsoft
KEY: SourceSafe
StringValue: Name=SCCServerName
Value="Microsoft Visual SourceSafe"
StringValue: Name=SCCServerPath
Value="C:\vss\win32\ssscc.dll"
Note: the SCCServerPath value will vary based on the exact pathname for
"ssscc.dll"
This is applicable to Windows NT (there were no options in the pulldown for
the applicable platform).
