Hi,
I posted this on a Netscape news group, but maybe somebody here could lend
a hand

We're scratching our heads a bit here, trying to figure out what
something means in real life.

I see from Sun's site that jdk 1.16 and above is y2k compliant, jdk1.15
and below is not.

At Netscape's site, the claim is that all recent-vintage browsers are
y2k compliant except for 3rd-party components. It lists jdk 1.15 and
below, 1.16 and above as non-compliant or compliant components seeming
to tie out with Sun's site.

So, here's the question:

What does this mean in everyday use?

Does this mean that if you are using NS as some sort of development
platform, you need to worry?

Does this mean that if you are downloading and running applets from
foreign sites, you need to worry?

Does this mean that if you are running local java apps in the browser's
jvm, you need to worry?

It sounds as if there s/b no prob with html/javascript. Correct?

Any guidance would be appreciated.

Thanks,
Curt Springer, Team ND
