Hello everyone,

We are currently using ND5, with Sybase, and also utilizing stored procedures.
We've had an extrememly difficult time getting this set up to work, but
hopefully the following information will help some of you.

First and foremost, I think we have called the support folks enough that they
have finally assigned an engineer to work on this problem specifically and
exclusively. They have told us that they have found the problem code, and have
also written a solution for it, but the solution causes Oracle to have problems,
so they are not yet ready to release this solution as a fix. They are still
working on it.

However, with ND5, SP2, we have been able to get stored procedures to work
successfully without this fix by using the JDBC to ODBC bridge instead of the
native Sybase JDBC drivers. There were two big things that we had to change when
we upgraded from 4 to 5. First, the OnEmptyValue property of our input
parameters of our stored procedures had to be changed from 'Send NULL' to
'Exclude'. Second, we had to change the parameter type of all DateTime
parameters to String and let Sybase handle the conversion. We are still
uncertain as to the reliability of retrieving return values with this setup.

We're currently in the process of testing this configuration, but everything is
looking good and we expect to move to deployment in the next few weeks.

I hope that some of you find this information useful. Let me know if I can
answer any questions.

Beth

Hi
Can you please elaborate with what the problem seems to be in ND 5 with
Sybase Stored Procedures??
I use Sybase in ND 4.1.3

We have an exactly same problem, that's why we couldn't convert our project
to ND 5.
ND engineers weren't able to come up with any fix so far, so I guess, we're
stuck.
