Hello all,
ND5 should work with Sybase stored procedures, as well
as with Oracle, Informix or SQLServer stored procedures.
I'm not suggesting it shouldn't, since this is a feature
SQL programmers have known and used for years.
This issue, however, shows how difficult it is to do that
"paradigm shift" we all have been reading about... Yes,
for this is the opportunity to do the right thing .The
opportunity to remove business logic from the database
and put it where it belongs: in business objects running
on the application server.
Right now, these business objects don't need to be EJBs.
Anyway, once the application logic is moved to the right
place you're suddenly free to upgrade from ND3 to ND4,
from ND4 to ND5 and EJBs, and from there to whatever,
hopefully.
Not to mention the freedom (at the technical level, at
least) to replace your current database by another :-).
Regards,
Cris
