We are running the basic setup mentioned above and are having problems with the site. The symptom of the problem is that a web browser pointed to our web site does not respond with any of our pages or anything else for that matter. Neither the Netscape or Netdynamics logs have given us any conclusive clues. The error logs seem fine until the point where things stop. We have tried the fix that is in the note numbered 12808 and that has helped some. (That information is at http://help.netscape.com/kb/server/970815-12.html) That fact that this has help some, tells us that our problem crops up under load. (For those who haven't read the document, it recommends some OS settings inluding setting the maximum timeout for TCP/IP connections from 8 minutes down to 1 minute.) It seems to be a problem in communication between ND and NS because sometimes we have to restart one, sometimes the other, and often both. We've tried going back to pure CGI and the problem is much worse. Also, at the request of a Sun technical person we tried to put the plugin server into production. As Murphy would have it, it worked fine on our test system and failed miserably in production. Has anyone else been through this drill and found a workable solution? Please let me know. Andrew C.
