Just wondering, has anybody else been looking to connect to a remote ldap
server from a java app (ND or not)?

I'm trying to figure out which API would be better. I don't expect that it
will be black and white.

Has anyone done any testing? Any reason to worry that a JNDI service
(thinking of netscape's or sun's) for ldap would be too big or slow
compared to Netscape's java api for ldap clients?

JNDI is attractive as a general-purpose service, especially as part of
j2ee. Looking down the road a bit, is there any reason to believe that
JNDI would become the standard api for everyday ldap access, the same way
that jdbc is the standard for dbms access?

Any reply would be appreciated, public or private.
