After you figure out which DO to use, store a reference to it in a session object, then just use the session object to dig the results out on the page. I don't think you'll be able to automagically fire the DO on the page, because that would require that display fields on the page are bound to it. Since you don't know what it's going to be ahead of time, you can't bind anything. So you'll need to dig it out of session, fire it off (.execute()) and then retrieve the results you're looking for.
