 *.spg files are created and the properties of the file and other contained object's 
properties
are stored here. believe that ND must need this file for effecting the new properties 
you set.
for example, take a nd page and just change the label of a static text (assume that 
youhave static
text on your page). save your project. note you no need to compile as there is no 
chnage in the
source code. but, your spg file is getting updated. so you might need this file.

similarly, you may be interested to know the importance od other intrp.. files like 
.spj, .sds, .sdo, 
sfs, .spg etc. visit at 
http://www.netdynamics.com/support/docs/nd41/Nd40DocSer/res/main/index.html
and click on nd studio, go to the page number 203 in your acrobat reader.
