Try this:
hoi:~# iptables -N -n
hoi:~# iptables -X -n
iptables v1.2.7: Illegal option `-n' with this command

Try `iptables -h' or 'iptables --help' for more information.
hoi:~# iptables -A -n -p tcp
hoi:~# iptables -L -n
