Subject: securing FTP communications [slightly OT]

hi all,

i've been looking around for good solutions to secure ftp
access to my server boxes, ie. not using cleartext pass-
words. the servers are linux boxes (redhat 7.1), but the
clients are windows 98 boxes. now, i've tried safetp, but
its requirement to add a layer to the windows ip stack
caused crashes sometimes, so i had to get rid of that.
i've found a way that involves ssh tunneling, but i got
that dreadful possible PASV theft error message.

now, do you have any experiences with secure ftp solu-
tions that can employ windows clients? anything to re-
commend?

thanks,
-p

u can look at this website for a secure ftp for windows clients

but it's not free...
