I have been using ipwatch for that exact purpose for over a year and a half. Works great!
http://www.scrounge.org/ipwatch/ crontab -e 0,30 * * * * /usr/sbin/ipwatch.sh 0,30 * * * * /usr/sbin/ipwatch.sh -c -m -n -s Runs a check every 1/2 hour (can be suited to 14 days, or whatever your needs are) Check it out.
