This is more of a pppd question but I thought it might apply here as well.

There is an option that can be put in the /etc/ppp/options file called
Active-filter.  This option filters out specific packets etc. that you don't
want to trigger your dial-up connection.  The problem is, as usual, the man
page doesn't help much.  It basically refers you to the tcpdump page because
it uses a similar syntax.  That doesn't help much either.  I've searched
high and low on the net and there is surprisingly little about it.

Anybody here familiar with this option or know where I can get some
real-world examples on how to use it?
