Hi,

if you want to use ftp, there is a special conntrack module in the
kernel-tree.

For IRC you need to get the conntrack module from the iptables
patch-o-matic, I think. Then you have to recompile your kernel.

Than it should work.

Best Regards,
MfG.

Linux/UNIX is like an Indian Tipi:
No Windows, no Gates and Apache inside.

I just switched from kernel 2.4.5 and ipchains to kernel
2.4.18 and iptables. Most of the transition wasn't too hard,
but I'm looking for specific information on how to enable
FTP and DCC (IRC) data transfers.

At one point I was able to get DCC sends to work, but I was
unable to receive DCC transfers for some reason. However, now
neither will work.

Right now I just have iptables set up just as a router to
masquerade my workstations behind the gateway computer.

So if there are any specific HOWTOs, just dealing with
FTP and/or DCC (IRC) transfers, could someone please point
me in the right place?

If not, could someone simply explain to me how I would
go about setting it up?

Thank You,

GRE
