Generally speaking, this extension would probably look fairly similar to the NetLogo SQL extension (https://github.com/mrotteveel/netlogo-sql) with the key difference that it would target MongoDB instead of MySQL or PostgreSQL. It looks like there are a number of different MongoDB drivers available for Java (based on this page: https://docs.mongodb.org/ecosystem/drivers/java/), which one you use is really a matter of preference.
