There actually already exists a hidden primitive that serves this purpose 
(though, this doesn't seem to come up terribly often in real models, and we 
mostly only use it for testing purposes).  That primitive is 
`__change-topology`.  It takes two arguments (both booleans), where the 
first is whether or not the topology should wrap horizontally, and the 
second is whether or not it should wrap vertically.
