Sorry it's taken me so long to respond to this.

Marcel is correct that using in-between versions is the best way to convert
models. In general, each major version of NetLogo can open and convert
models of *at least* the major version before. I would try opening it in
5.3. If it opens in 5.3, great! You can re-save it and open the resaved
model in NetLogo 6. If 5.3 can't open it you can try opening it in NetLogo
4, resaving, opening in NetLogo 5, resaving, then opening in NetLogo 6.
