Hi, all V-03 is available now: https://www.ietf.org/archive/id/draft-ma-netmod-with-system-03.txt.
This version addresses comments raised by Balazs (thank you Balazs for your valuable comments). The main changes are following: • Define a RESTCONF capability URI for “resolve-system” RESTCONF query parameter; • Augment <copy-config> RPC operation to support "resolve-system" as input parameter; • Editorial changes for clarification and explanation, which includes: o More clear definition of system configuration o Make it clear in the draft that <system> must always be valid o Make it clear that any update of <system> will not cause the automatic update of <running> o Make it clear the relationship between “read-only to clients” and “modifying system configuration” o Try to clarify non-deletable system configuration; Best Regards, Qiufang -----Original Message----- From: [email protected] [mailto:[email protected]] Sent: Monday, April 11, 2022 10:40 AM To: Fengchong (frank) <[email protected]>; Fengchong (frank) <[email protected]>; Jan Lindblad <[email protected]>; Kent Watsen <[email protected]>; Qin Wu <[email protected]>; Qin Wu <[email protected]>; maqiufang (A) <[email protected]> Subject: New Version Notification for draft-ma-netmod-with-system-03.txt A new version of I-D, draft-ma-netmod-with-system-03.txt has been successfully submitted by Qiufang Ma and posted to the IETF repository. Name: draft-ma-netmod-with-system Revision: 03 Title: System-defined Configuration Document date: 2022-04-10 Group: Individual Submission Pages: 43 URL: https://www.ietf.org/archive/id/draft-ma-netmod-with-system-03.txt Status: https://datatracker.ietf.org/doc/draft-ma-netmod-with-system/ Htmlized: https://datatracker.ietf.org/doc/html/draft-ma-netmod-with-system Diff: https://www.ietf.org/rfcdiff?url2=draft-ma-netmod-with-system-03 Abstract: This document updates NMDA [RFC8342] to define a read-only conventional configuration datastore called "system" to hold system- defined configurations. To avoid clients' explicit copy/paste of referenced system-defined configuration into the target configuration datastore (e.g., <running>), a "resolve-system" parameter has been defined to allow the server acting as a "system client" to copy referenced system-defined nodes automatically. The solution enables clients manipulating the target configuration datastore (e.g., <running>) to overlay and reference nodes defined in <system>, override values of configurations defined in <system>, and configure descendant nodes of system-defined nodes.
