Has the redraw / scrolling / text input editing speed improved at all?

If redrawing background images is slow, it may be because the background
image tiles are very small. The GTK front end pre-tiles small background
images which speeds up rendering there. The RISC OS front end doesn't need
to do that because it is done automatically by Tinct, which we use for
image rendering.
