Does this also mean that the GUI will be quite easy to develop because the
hard work is done in the core code? Should the old front end be modified
or is a complete new start necessary?

I do not have any C experience so I guess it will be to difficult to me to
get into it. Also I am working quite heavily on another RISC OS project
but these questions just came into my mind and might be important for
others, too.
