found it! i copied an unusual word in my Impression document to the clipboard, then in a taskwindow did *show * to get a list of all system variables. hundreds of 'em! then i did Suspend on the taskwindow, moved to top, and searched for this word. behold, there it is, held by the system variable Impulse$Selection so now i can select a URL in my Impression doc, Sh-Ctrl-M makes Keystroke issue *uridispatch http://<Impulse$Selection> and Netsurf launches it. (Impulse, i now recall, is the Computer Concepts behind-the-scenes protocol by which operations such as mailmerge are done. i'm curious now to know what else it can do.) (i'm amazed at how many system variables there are! makes me think i should do a purge sometime of all the stuff that gets loaded or looked at at boot that i never use.) -- Jim Nagel www.archivemag.co.uk
