Subject: a major thanks to mike!

as i have been asking about this on both list, i wanted to share
the solution, and give a huge bouquet to mike for his solving the
problem!
mike, your sending me the toexpand.zip file and program did
indeed do the trick! i followed your carefully given
instructions, and was able to expand all of the compressed files
in my \dos directory! i have already run memmaker, and feel
certain i should be able to restore the contents of my hd that i
zipped now that pkunzip will have all of the memory it needs.
I have kept the zip file you sent me, if anyone wants to keep
this utility handy. by way of explain, toexpand, was written by
someone who apparently needed to do something similar to my
problem. to install the compressed dos files without using
setup. basically you unzip the program in the directory where
the compressed files reside, run toexpand to make a bat file, and
run that file. in my case it was toexpand >kl.bat
toexpand will systematically run the expand.exe decompression
program and restore those compressed files.
i still must remove the compressed versions, but was so excited,
i wanted to say thanks first. I also want to make sure i have
the del command right to remove files with the _in the extension
lol!!
again, mike, my deepest thanks to you for finding the solution to
the first major problem, and making it more possible that i can
find the harddrive information i may use to beat the bios thing!
most sincerely,
Karen Lewelle
