Subject: Re: NT's ftp rename command?
helo Lewis Graber - long time no hearsee !
according to the books you can quite well rename files *on* the FTP
server, and it works simply in Nettamer: on the displayed list of
files, select the one in question with the arrow key(s), press ENTER,
and edit the automatically produced (RETR) command in the pop-up line
with the appropriate Unix-style FTP command(s). Below the list of valid
such from the RFCs, some kind listmember had posted it quite a while ago
(and indeed, yes, miracle, I found it back).
I didn't try rename yet meself but it could be as easy as just type
"RNTO filename.extension" (with the cursor of the old filename).
Usually I just upload a file with its name as it should be; if there's
an old one in the server's directory it will be overwritten.
Otherwise, it would be just "DELE filename.ex" over this older
filename listed.
BTW, Nt's FTP commands seem standard such for the - early - FTP standard,
and seem to work well on all those FTP servers I use. For instance,
both CWD and XCWD (the more recent variant) work always.
