Jim:
Although Net-Tamer can download full header information for a
message or range of messages in a single or multiple newsgroups, this
function is otherwise useless. That's to say Net-Tamer offers no
internal method for selecting a full message from a list of headers.
You can, however, obtain a list of "subjects" from which you can
select messages to download on a second pass with Net-Tamer. The
process begins and proceeds as follows:
[] Make certain the newsgroups of interest are NOT setup in
Net-Tamer such that Net-Tamer automatically gets new
messages each time you log onto your ISP.
[] After Net-Tamer has been loaded and you are at the
screen which presents date/time and available memory,
(AKA the "terminal" screen) press F3.
[] Select option B from the F3 menu.
[] Using the list of newsgroups presented, select those from which
you wish to download subject listings. Above the text entry
field presented when you specify a newsgroup, you'll find
instructions on how to enter a range of messages whose subject
listings you will later download. Enter the range of message
numbers from which message subjects will be drawn. When you
have finished this process for all newsgroups of interest,
you will have created USENET.GET. It will be sitting in your
declared message directory awaiting your next call to your ISP
to pickup new messages or, in this case, a list of message
subjects.
[] When you are ready to download subject listings, press F6 at
the Net-Tamer startup screen described above to bring up the
menu for automated online functions. Select option E.
Net-Tamer will log in and get the list without assistance from
you.
[] When Net-Tamer has disconnected from your ISP, return to the F3
menu, select option B again, and then select the newsgroups for
which subject lists should now exist. Use the ENTER key to mark
those subjects which interest you.
[] When you are ready to download actual messages, press F6 at
the Net-Tamer startup screen described above to bring up the
menu for automated online functions. Select option E.
Net-Tamer will log in and get the messages under the subjects
you marked without assistance from you.
