Subject: a better socket

Now on this "interface" question of a socket, where David
Colston himself said he would be uncertain about what to
use/declare/offer.

A good answer would be to have it be compatible with the
WATTCP specifications (where even dosppp relies on), which
are open source. A lot of clients build on this, and many
people use it - all the KA9Q users, uka, the (wasn't it
Australian in origin) [DOS-]Network-OS, and a host of
other.

And the perfect answer would be to make it open source,
straightforward.

The recent development has shown that there is quite well
a real market, and that people *do* pay for the stuff they
use and which comes with open source. I would be one of
them, as declared already. (And luckily, not everyone is a
programmer.)
