Subject: Accessing CompuServe E-Mail With Net-Tamer
Gary asked about receiving E-Mail from CompuServe with Net-Tamer.
This can be done, but requires -- ironically -- that you use INTERNET
Explorer to accomplish a POP3 setup. There's no other way to do it.
And you must have an "RPA" plugin installed into INTERNET Explorer
first. But before you fire up INTERNET Explorer, you must convert
your mailbox to "New Mail." If you have been using CompuServe 3.0 or
greater to access your E-Mail, then you probably are already on the
"New Mail" system. Once you have RPA setup in INTERNET Explorer, load
CompuServe's main web menu -- not the internal menus available only
to CompuServe subscribers who log-in directly rather than from the
INTERNET -- and type in "POP3" without the quotes at the search box
with an associated "GO" button. From there, you choose the POP3 setup
option and simply follow instructions while writing down the information
provided to you as you go through the setup process. Make special
note of your assigned POP and SMTP server designation. You'll have to
put their addressed into Net-Tamer's setup. Note also that you'll
want simple password authentication for your E-Mail. Choose anything
else and Net-Tamer will not be able to negotiate POP3 downloads.
