about a previous discussion on AOL:
Why AOL has its own internet software?
Well, I think it is because, 6 years ago, AOL and Microsoft began to
fight. Remember,AOL (and Compuserve) were provided with Windows 95 And,it
is the starting point of the conflict. From that day , AOL could be sure
that M$ Internet Explorer would contain some "features" which would make
every AOL connexions seem very "buggy". If the AOL connection would be
standard, lots of Win 9x users would surf with M$ IE, and would find AOL
ugly.
So, I think it was a good idea, to provide a home made software to have
a "safe surf". It is an underground war, and it is still active: I read on
a newspaper, that M$ Frontpage is also containing such "features" against
Netscape (bought by AOL isn't it).
That is why we can't use Nettamer with AOL.
