Karen, I don't know the maximum, but I've had an upload fail on much
less than the 3MB that Dana wrote about. I think the first thing is
having enough disk space for the encoded file that Net-Tamer has to make
out of your original. That could be a problem since it's likely to be
much larger than the original.
The next thing is making sure that Net-Tamer isn't doing _any_ other
tasks besides uploading the message. I'd recommend logging on to your
ISP without getting mail or getting newsgroups. Do this using the F6
menu and selection "G - Log On Only." Once you are logged on, use F2
and select "E - SMTP" to _send_ mail. That way you won't find Net-Tamer
trying to go on to some other task in the middle of the upload.
If you have enough disk space, you can test a large file attachment by
sending it to yourself and see whether you can get it back complete.
By the way, Mike Miller's suggestion to use PKZIP with disk spanning to
create a set of diskettes containing the large file in a zip is an
alternative you should consider because, as he says, uploading a large
file takes a _long_ time. Even a 56K modem is no better than a V.34
modem for uploading because the upload is still limited to V.34.
Good luck.
