Workshop Physical Computing, organized by OKNO and led by Johannes Taelman ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ EN In the .x-med-k. workshop physical computing, we will investigate connecting the physical world to the realm of the computer. By using sensors and an inexpensive interface board, we can create a range of selfmade devices, from unheard of musical instruments to interactive installations. Movement, gestures, airflow, touch, heat... can all be used to control sound and visuals. The workshop has a distinct focus on an artistic exploration of the possibilities of physical computing. Partcipants will get to know the different kinds of sensors, how they are used and how to combine them with the computer to create artworks. The partcicpation fee of 50€ covers an arduino board, breadboard and a small set of sensors. Participants should have basic knowledge of a software environment such as max-msp, pure data, reaktor, processing,... Door sensors te koppelen aan een goedkoop interface bord worden unieke machines gemaakt; van extravagante muziekinstrumenten tot interactieve installaties. Beweging, warmte, aanraking ... zijn slechts enkele van de elementen die gebruikt kunnen worden om klank en visuals te controleren. De workshop legt de nadruk op een artistieke verkenning van physical computing. De deelnemers leren de verschillende soorten sensors kennen en onderzoeken hoe deze te combineren met de computer om kunstwerken te maken. Voor 50 € krijgen de deelnemers een arduino bord, een breadboard en een selectie sensors. Deelnemers moeten basiskennis hebben van een softwareomgeving als max-msp, pure data, processing, reaktor,...
