New Media Faculty Position - Tenure-track - The Universithy of Tampa
The Communication Department at the University of Tampa invites applications
for a tenure-track assistant professor position in New Media, beginning fall
2007.
The ideal candidate will have an MFA or Ph.D. (or be near completion) with a
background in critical theory in the humanities and be able to teach both
theory and studio practice in new media, including courses in visual culture,
Web and video production. The candidate should show promise in scholarship
that includes exhibition and/or publication and be able to contribute to
curriculum development in both the Department of Communication and the
interdisciplinary Electronic Media Art & Technology (EMAT) program. A spirit
of collaboration and openness to interdisciplinary work are vital for faculty
working in these areas.
The University of Tampa is a top-tier school among private southern
universities. Currently the largest and fastest-growing department at the
university, the Communication Department is well equipped with media labs and
features internationally known faculty in filmmaking, television, radio, and
new media, as well as journalism, advertising, and public relations. The
department collaborates in interdisciplinary programs with many other
departments, including English, Art, and Information Technologies Management.

samples (publications and/or exhibitions).
