ABOUT ARTPORT
ARTPORT is a series of international arts exchange projects that
travel to several PORTS in order to create sustainable artistic
networks across cultures and to promote cross-fertilization between
the art world and the real world. With every project, more PORTS will
be added.
HURAKAN is ARTPORT’s first project, featuring exhibitions, panels,
and residencies between New York and Valencia, Spain, from spring-
winter 2008. HURAKAN explores artists’ responses to Global Warming
and creates synergies among artists and climate change experts in
order to generate awareness across the Atlantic.
HURAKAN builds on the ties that have been created between the two
cities with Valencia’s star architect Santiago Calatrava designing
the new World Trade Center transportation hub in New York City. It is
one of the cleanest construction sites in the U.S. and in sync with
Mayor Bloomberg’s greeNYC plan 2030.
ARTPORT_1: HURAKAN is officially supported by
The New York Foundation for the Arts
The Regional Autonomous Government of Valencia
UNESCO Valencia
