Artscape brings together top practitioners from around the world for a 
comprehensive learning experience that demystifies the complexities 
of culture-led regeneration. Intensive workshops connect participants with 
similar-minded practitioners, innovative leaders and catalytic 
projects and capitalize on the synergies between creative people, unique places 
and cross-sector collaboration. 

During this two-day workshop, learn from international practitioners on how to 
nurture and sustain the conditions for creative ecologies 
to thrive in downtowns, cultural districts, neighbourhoods and mainstreets.

Bringing a wealth of knowledge from around the world, speakers confirmed for 
this upcoming workshop include: Tom Barnett, Planning 
Director, City of Paducah, Kentucky; Gord Hume, Controller, City of London, 
Ontario & Chair of the Creative City Task Force; Greg Baeker, 
Senior Consultant, AuthentiCity & Lead Consultant, Municipal Cultural Planning 
Partnership; and Tim Jones,

In its 3rd year, Artscape's CULTURE-LED REGENERATION 
PROGRAM is a national workshop series focused on building the organizational 
and leadership capacity of communities to engage art, culture 
and creativity in revitalization efforts. Artscape's CREATIVE PLACEMAKING 
WORKSHOP is second in this series that investigates strategies to 
connect and leverage the creative and cultural resources of communities in 
generating quality of place.

Day One immerses participants in the practical planning tools for undertaking 
creative place-making initiatives in a range of different 
contexts, with a focus on community engagement, strategic planning, governance 
and cross-sector partnerships.

Day Two delves into best practice case studies that illustrate the application 
of strategies and tools discussed in Day One, to fulfill 
various goals and objectives of creative placemaking.


 
Who should attend? Individuals, organizations or partnerships from across 
Canada that are interested in developing area-based strategies in 
their communities. Past participants have hailed from diverse sectors

Registration Fee is only $265 + GST if you register by October 1, 2007. After 
this date, the Regular Registration Fee of $315 + GST will 
apply.

CULTURE-LED REGENERATION PROGRAM
Our recent Creative Spacemaking Workshop on June 7 - 8 in Hamilton, Ontario was 
a resounding success, convening an intimate, diverse group 
of over 40 participants hailing from 17 different municipalities across Ontario 
and outside of the province. 

Ranging in both sector and interest, enthusiastic delegates and faculty 
exchanged hands-on learning experiences over 2 days of interactive 
discussions, inspiring local site tours and extensive "how to" curriculum on 
developing and sustaining creative communities within 
affordable and dynamic spaces.
