Europe's plan to fingerprint foreign visitors raises numerous
questions
The European Commission presented several border-security measures.
Brussels has proposed fingerprinting all foreign visitors to Europe,
and electronically registering each entry and exit.
(Major airports in Britain, France, Germany and the Netherlands are
already experimenting with some of them.)
A European Border Surveillance System for the external land and
sea borders is another possibility for boosting internal security,
Brussels said. More member states' joint operations would also see the
role of the EU's border control agency Frontex expand. The policies
could be in effect by 2015 if governments and European lawmakers
agree.
