The affluent society is in its own way preparing for this
eventuality "by organizing the desire for beauty and the hunger
for community," the renewal of the "contact with nature,"
the enrichment of the mind, and honors for "creation for its own
sake." The false ring of such proclamations is indicative of the
fact that, within the established system, these aspirations are
translated into administered cultural activities, sponsored by
the government and the big corporations --  an extension of their
executive arm into the soul of the masses.



Well, the affluent society is gone and 'you'* are redundant.
