I too have smoked with Kittler, in the dusty expanse of his Berlin home, replete with its assemblages of antiquated hardware, and I am sure others on nettime have done so too. In the wake of his death however I have felt no need to chime in with this fact in order to 'claim' him in some way, and I wonder about the motivations of those who have maneuvered to do so, on a mailinglist to which they contribute little of note.
